The Development and Quality Unit, represented by the Scientific Development and Excellence Unit in the Department of Chemistry under the supervision of Dr. Kakol Hussein, Unit Coordinator in the Department, organized a workshop entitled 'Detection of hydroquinone by electrochemical methods' on Tuesday, 19/10/1444, and one of the most important objectives of the workshop were:
1. Definition of hydroquinone.
2.The use of hydroquinone in the cosmetic industry.
3.Electrochemical methods.
4.How to detect hydroquinone by electrochemical methods.
The workshop was presented by Dr. Nusseibeh Mohamed Mudawi, Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemistry, where the workshop began with an introduction to the definition of hydroquinone and its use in the manufacture of cosmetics and the harms resulting from the excessive use of these substances on the human body. The workshop was presented at the College of Arts and Sciences in Wadi Al-Dawasir in the female section in the presence of a number of female students, and the interaction during the presentation between the students and the introduction of the workshop was due to the importance of the topic for students to increase their awareness and guidance by not overusing creams containing hydroquinone and finding healthy alternatives. Electrochemical methods for detecting hydroquinone in creams were also accurately demonstrated.
