About the unit:
Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University gives all its scientific and technical potentials to keep pace with the strategic orientations of the kingdom in the fields of science, technology, and distance education, which were defined by the comprehensive national plan for science, technology and innovation, through which the Kingdom seeks to confront current and future scientific and technical challenges, improve to the level that suits it scientifically and technically, and direct all potentials towards national priorities and needs. The university also develops systems and infrastructure for scientific research and technical development, and works to provide the appropriate environment for creativity, innovation and development.

To raise the efficiency of education, develop its outputs, and provide an electronic environment that supports the performance of faculty members, and motivates students in Wadi Addawasir and Al Sulail through optimal use of e-learning applications and Blackboard system for distance education.
Objectives:
In coordination with the Deanship of Information Technology and Distance Education and the relevant authorities, the unit aims to:
- Raise awareness of e-learning in Wadi Addawasir.
- Ensure quality of e-learning the Wadi Addawasir's colleges.
- Train faculty members and staff on e-learning system and its applications.
- Provide an electronic environment that motivates students to learn and improve their performance.
- Evaluate e-learning process in the colleges continuously.
- Convert in-campus courses into electronic courses.
- Strengthen the community partnership in the field of e-learning.
- Cooperate with university colleges in Wadi Addawasir to provide distance learning programs.
- Provide a workforce to contribute to the provision of services, programs, and workshops on e-learning system "Blackboard".
- Conduct exams, assignments, reports, and research electronically via the same system, completely electronically.
- Raise awareness of electronic system through guiding means, workshops, and training sessions in the colleges of Wadi Addawasir and Al Sulail that show and facilitate the use of this system in direct coordination with the Deanship of Information Technology at the university.
Unit Requirements:
- A permanent hall equipped with computers and internet cables and service for training purposes in campus.
- A direct means of communication with the Deanship of Information Technology and Distance Education in order to facilitate conducting the training workshops related to the unit.
Tasks:
- Raising awareness of e-learning by conducting workshops and training sessions.
- Raising awareness of college's staff about the importance of maintaining the educational technology equipment in the college.
- Evaluating e-learning process in the colleges continuously.
- Evaluating the quality of the electronic courses and following up on their progress.
- Providing students with the necessary skills to use various communication and information technologies by conducting training sessions for using Blackboard system.
- Providing training sessions for faculty members on e-learning applications to improve the educational process.
- Converting in-campus courses into electronic courses.
- Improving faculty members' skills in preparing electronic courses.
