On my own behalf and on behalf of my colleagues of faculty members, I am pleased to welcome you at the website of the Department of English Language and Literature at the College of Arts and Sciences in Wadi Al Dawasir. I hope that you find in these pages what all you need to know about this department in terms of its vision, Mission, goals, courses and research activities. The Department of English Language and Literature was established in the year 1428 H (2006) the male students branch, and after that the female students branch. The Department of English Language and Literature teaches courses in English literature, linguistics, methods of teaching English language and translation that end with awarding the student a bachelor's degree in English language and literature. The department also offers courses for other departments in the College of Arts and Sciences in Wadi Al Dawasir, which include departments of Arabic language and literature, departments of computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry, and Islamic studies, as well as courses in faculties of education, engineering, medical and applied sciences.The English language program is based on preparing students, enabling them to study their courses in English and encouraging them to communicate in this language in order to achieve the department's ambitions in providing the student with a high proficiency in English language and its literature. In line with the general policy of the College of Arts and Sciences in Wadi Al Dawasir for the excellence, the Department of English Language and Literature seeks to develop its study plan to achieve the college’s goals in general and the department’s goals in particular. The department’s goals include the graduation of specialists in the English language to meet the urgent needs of male and female students in Wadi Al Dawasir region and to enable them to keep pace with the development of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in all fields. In conclusion, I cannot but mention that the Department of English Language and Literature is only one of the building blocks of the supportive and encouraging scientific and educational system at University of Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz in general and the Faculty of Arts and Sciences in Wadi Al Dawasir in particular.
