Directives from Her Excellency the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Dr. Fara’a Al-Khuzaie, an event was organized in the Academic Advising Unit for the first semester of the academic year 1444 AH, entitled “Academic Advising Day.” Prepared by Dr. Radhia Madani Mandil, Coordinator of the Academic Advising Unit at the College. It was presented by a number of faculty members. The event included: Four axes.
Explanation of the Digital Academic Advising Platform (Wajehni) Presented by Dr. Radhia Madani Mandil, Coordinator of the Academic Advising Unit at the College.A lecture on the causes of academic stumbling, presented by Dr. Sabah Fathi, Associate Professor, Department of Islamic Studies.A lecture on the secrets of academic success, presented by Dr. Abeer Mira, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics.
My Experience in Diligence and Excellence Presented by Professor Taraf Ayed, a collaborator in the Department of Islamic Studies.
At the beginning of the event, Dr. Radhia Madani Mandil welcomed the female students and faculty members, and gave them a brief explanation of the functions of the Academic Advising Unit and its role in producing graduates with high quality specifications. With the counseling services provided by the platform, including requesting an appointment, consulting, requesting deletion and addition of a course, and following up on the academic performance of students.
The second axis included a lecture on the causes of academic stumbling in cooperation with the Department of Islamic Studies. At the beginning, the concept of academic achievement and how to know the low level of general academic achievement was explained. The causes of stumbling and low academic achievement and their impact on the student’s academic level as well as on the psychological and social aspect were explained. The mechanism of treatment of the causes of academic stumbling was also explained, followed by giving advice to stumbling students.
As for the third axis, a lecture was presented on the secrets of academic success, in cooperation with the Department of Physics, and its most important objectives were:
1- An explanation of the rules for achieving academic success
2- The ten steps to prepare for studying
3- Presentation of the five ways to remember
4- Things to be avoided during the recall process.
5- What are the ways to enhance memory?
6- Mention honorable models from students of Wadi Al-Dawasir in the College of Engineering
As for the last axis, it was a statement of support delivered by the female collaborator in the Islamic Studies Department to encourage them and explain how to organize their time to study for the sake of excellence.
Finally, student Anoud Mahmas concluded the event with words of encouragement to the students for their keenness to communicate with the Academic Advising Unit to benefit from the important services provided by the Unit and urging them to attend the workshops provided by the Academic Advising Unit.
There was also a set of pillars and banners that were designed and prepared in cooperation with the Department of Arabic Language under the supervision of Dr. Awatef Al-Badri, as well as the Department of Islamic Studies and the Department of Physics.
The event was a great success, as the attendance at the event was large, about 121 students, and it was praised by students and faculty members.
