The Academic Consulting (Advisory) Unit at the College of Arts and Science in Wadi Addawasir held a meeting with the new students at ten o'clock in the morning on Sunday, 24/12/1437H. In the beginning of the meeting, Dr Sobhi Al-Meligi, the Coordinator of the Unit, welcomed His Excellency the Dean of College of Arts and Science, Dr Sefer Al-Mudarre, as well as the students. In his speech, Dr Al-Meligi pointed out the importance of the meeting in giving new students directives and guidelines to prove their footsteps in university education, so as to be able to proceed with their study and play active roles in serving their community and their country.
The meeting included a speech by the HE the Dean, who explained that the university is the first stage thresholds for the future, and that it is expected from the student to begin his university life with an intent to be distinguished and outstanding for the sake of a prosperous future. HE also highlighted on the fact that we are now in the era of the development of skills and abilities, and thus, the student should work on scientific researches and develop his skills and abilities continually.
Later, Dr. Zakaria Mukhtar talked about everything related to academic guidance. And then, he spoke about the problems faced by the students and how to overcome them.
This meeting comes among the meetings which are taken care by the College in an effort to get the students be acquainted with the rules and regulations set by the University, and provide them with important guidelines through which they will be able to identify the services offered to them, as well as their rights and duties.
At the end of the meeting, ‘student guile’ booklets were distributed to all the students in order for them to know the importance of the role of the academic advisor, and the requirement of following up his students throughout the semester.
