Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds, prayers and peace be upon our master Muhammad, the Truthful, the Faithful Promise, O God, we have no knowledge except what You taught us that You are the All-Knowing, the Wise. O Allah! Benefit us through what you teach us, and benefit us with what you taught us..... And after, Physics is one of the basic sciences, to which the tremendous technological advances that the world has reached today in various fields around us, such as space, communications, electronics, and others.
Physics is the science that concerns with the study of the natural phenomena that arises from the substance, its motion and the energy and interactions between them. It also deals with measurable cosmological characteristics such as power, energy, mass and charge. Physics has a prominent imprint in the development and advancement of human civilizations in all aspects. No one can deny that the discoveries of physics have brought radical changes. All the devices that fill our daily lives have a physical basis, as well as the discovery of new natural phenomena, the progress in the following fields led to:
- The field of electromagnetism is widely spread in its applications Such as radar, wireless, radio, television, telephone, mobile phone, computer and microwave ovens.
- The field of thermodynamics to the remarkable development of its applications in modern engines and means of transport;
- The field of quantum mechanics to the invention of equipment such as the electron microscope
- The field of atomic physics, besides its destructive effects, could be used in diagnostic devices in medicine, such as X-rays, magnetic resonance imaging, and radiotherapy.
- The field of optics physics that led to the development of glasses, telescopes, and probes of Mars and space.
- The field of solid physics, which brought the development in the transistors and semiconductors technology.
There are two trends in the study of physics:
- Theoretical physics, which is concerned with the formulation of theories by adopting mathematical models.
- Experimental physics, which is concerned with testing those theories. Physics has several branches such as atomic physics, nuclear physics, solder physics, plasma physics, laser physics, optics, acoustics, electrical, magnetism, thermodynamics, mechanics, quantum mechanics, cosmology...etc. Despite the vast amount of important discoveries that have been made by Physics, many issues are still unanswered till now, and there are theoretical and applied fields that are witnessing intense activity and research.
